Introduced just prior to Michigan State's home opener by new coach Duffy Daugherty. After losing the home opener to Wisconsin and the following week to Purdue, Duffy took a lesson from his longtime mentor Biggie Munn and scrapped the "unlucky" helmets and returned to the traditional Green (with a white stripe) variety.
