New head coach Cal Stoll changed the look of the Golden Gopher helmets in 1972.  This color and style truly exemplified the name “Golden Gophers”.  Interestingly, this style was used again in the 1990’s under Coach Jim Wacker.   A special thanks to our good friends at "Golden Sports Collection" www.goldensportscollection.com  for sharing their expertise and some of their rare helmets.
