"Aggies" 1963
(Authentic Reproduction)

The lack of punch in 1962 made Foldberg streamline the offense and alter the uniforms for '63, moving HB Jim Linnstaedter to QB. If Foldberg was hoping that the new offense, the new solid maroon helmets, and the introduction of coeds to the College Station campus would result in a turnaround, it helped little as the record fell to 2-7-1 and Dan McIlhany finished the year as the signal caller. Perhaps to give his troops a lift, the Ags found that Foldberg had added white side numerals to their maroon shells for the November 28th finale against Texas. Though the Cadets played over their heads, Longhorn kicker, shoeless Tony Crosby, planted the game deciding field goal as Texas won a thriller, 15-13. Foldberg had the Army association but his players could not perform with the ability of the West Point teams he had been associated with.
